The Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) was founded in 1998. Consisting of musicians from 26 countries, the MPO presents a wide
variety of music programs. It performs around 100 concerts every season at its home, Dewan Filharmonik PETRONAS, Kuala Lampur. For

Applications are now being accepted for the 5th Symphony Orchestra Academy of the Pacific. This unique program preparing
advanced students and young professionals for a career in music performance and in obtaining a position in a professional orchestra,
will take place June 16 - 29, 2008, in the picturesque, seaside town of Powell River, British Columbia – a Cultural Capital ofCanada.
Students perform in the Symphony Orchestra of the Pacific under the baton of Music Director Arthur Arnold (The Netherlands)
and study with renowned players from some of the world’s finest orchestras.

Al Payson is a retired percussionist with the Chicago Symphony
Orchestra and a member of the faculty of DePaul University.
Al Payson's Publications include Beginning and Intermediate Methods
for Snare Drum, Marimba/Xylophone and Bass Drum/Cymbals and Accessories as well as Etudes for Snare Drum. Most publications
come with accompanying CDs.
